Why Glogau?
One of the things we need to know prior to a peel is your current state of skin damage, history & more.
The Glogau measures the current damages that have been caused by prior activity. The changes are designated as being minimal, moderate, advanced, and severe.
The Glogau Classification can be very helpful when trying to figure out the outward age of the skin. This will truly help you to see if you are aging “well” or if you are in need of some additional problem solving.
Take a look at the chart and see where your skin fits in.
Do you think you look younger or older than your real age?
If you spent your earlier years basking in the sun with baby oil and no SPF you are most likely looking at some sun damage.
If you have been a smoker for years that is very aging to your skin. We may have some work to do!
Got it? Good.
Now we can move foward with your Fitzpatrick type and your Glogau classification.
Now let’s discover what your skin’s overall condition is. You will have taken notice at specific discolorations on the skin, or prior scars, keratoses, lines and more. These things are all perfectly normal – so do not fret!
Just head to the next lesson.

I am 57 years old and do get comments that I look younger but have fought melasma for 30 years and spent a lot of time in the sun as a child. I would say my global classification is somewhere between 2 and 3.
Perfect. Now you know where you are starting from. Always take a photo to document your progress as you move forward.
